A Lagos family has denied chasing pupils of a private school, Shalom Group of Schools, from the school premises in the Baruwa area of Ipaja, Lagos State.
“On Monday, we were supposed to revisit Zone 2 when I saw pupils had started protesting that we blocked them from accessing the school. The pupils had another alternative to entering the school but they said it was the place we blocked that they would use,” Owonla added.
It read in part, “An order that the underdeveloped part of the land which was purportedly acquired from the plaintiffs should revert back to the plaintiffs since the purpose for which it was acquired had been defeated.” He said, “We created a small gate behind the school that leads to a street and the students are going in and are back in the school. When they came, there were about 50 boys and he had policemen with AK-47 with him.
The spokesperson for the state Ministry of Education, Ganiyu Lawal, said the ministry visited the school to assess the situation after receiving a distress call, adding that a follow-up was also done on Monday.
