The Federal High Court sitting in Enugu has remanded a former Enugu State Commissioner for Lands and Urban Development, Dr Victor Nnam, in Enugu maximum correctional centre for alleged land fraud and forgery.
Nnam, a surveyor, had resigned his appointment with the Enugu State Government as Commissioner for Lands and Urban Development last month, which triggered a backlash after claiming that he resigned because his boss, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, removed professionals working with him. He was reportedly arraigned on Friday before Justice I. N. Buba of Court 1, on 10-count. The suit is marked no: FHC/EN/CR/33/2020 between the Federal Republic of Nigeria as complainant and Victor Nnam as Defendant.
The Nigeria Police Force is prosecuting the ex-commissioner for alleged falsification of Affidavit of facts dated 27th day of October 2017 of one Chief Sunday Ngene and seven others with intent that such affidavit of facts would be presented to the appropriate Government Ministries and Departments in Enugu state for approval of Aruga Layout, Obinagu Obeagu Community Enugu.
