The Lagos State House of Assembly on Friday said it had made provisions for compulsory lane markings and traffic law signals on highways in the ongoing amendment of the Lagos Traffic Law and Regulatio
ns.
Adewale added that there would be appropriate sanctions for violators of traffic lane markings on the highways. He noted that the signs and markings on the highways would further reduce the gridlock experienced by motorists. “This is to further enhance LASTMA’s jobs and the House of Assembly will continue to support the agency. With the population of over 22 million people, we only have 4,239 LASTMA officers, therefore, there is a need for more traffic officers on our roads.”
