Lagos State Government, yesterday, said that about N849.5 million had been expended on scholarship and bursary awards in 2023.

The state’s Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Tolani Sule , disclosed this during the ongoing yearly ministerial media briefing to mark the first year of the second term of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu .

He said that the state government would admit students for the 2024/25 academic session, as the three components needed for take-off had been met. “As per the People with Disability Law of Lagos State, which promises free education for all PLWDs, I am pleased to announce that the Lagos State Government has allocated budgetary provisions in the 2024 budget to fulfil this mandate via the introduction of the special scholarship for PLWDs. We are committed to ensuring that every individual, regardless of their abilities or socio-economic background, has access to quality education.

The Federal Government, in partnership with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees , has said that plans are underway to repatriate 20,000 Nigerians from the Republics of Chad and Cameroon. House of Representatives, Ikeja Branch of the Nigerian Bar Association of Nigeria , rights activist, Femi Falana and Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria have condemned the recent energy hike by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission .
