Fear has gripped some residents and business operators at the popular Ago Palace Way, Lagos, following the rising spate of recent kidnappingsWorst hit are owners of top business outfits, popular eateries and restaurants who are targets of the kidnappers. So far,learned that so much money, both in local and foreign currencies, has been paid as ransom by the helpless victims of kidnappings in the ever-busy business district and residential enclave.
Sources said that family members and friends are still making frantic efforts to raise the N100 million ransom they demanded while the case was reported at Ago Palace Way police station. Sources said after the abductors forced him to stop at the middle of the road, they pushed him into their white Hilux Jeep and sped off towards Apple Junction. Reports said the lady Divisional Police Officer at Ago Palace Way then received information about the commando-like daylight operation and personally swung into action by going after them in her patrol vehicle.
They expressed fears that the resurgence may be from remnants of members of his gang yet to be exposed. “That is why,” according to sources, “most of them have continued to keep sealed lips after their horrendous ordeals.”Police sources said family members of the victims and friends always rush to incident such reports at Ago Police station but end up withdrawing from police enquiries after paying huge sums of money as ransom.
