Residents of Candid Estate, Araromi near Okoafo, Badagry, Lagos State have expressed discontent over the demolition of their buildings by the state government. The demolition was executed by the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA), residents confirmed to SaharaReporters. According to them, there was no quit notice issued to them by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu's administration and LASBCA authorities prior to the demolition exercise.
“LASBCA served us quit notice on December 7, 2022 and started demolishing properties of residents on 8th December 2022. There was no prior notice not court order,” one of the residents told SaharaReporters.
“They care not about what will be left of them. The agency terrorised civilians, deployed thugs in hundreds and state police to destroy hard earned property of people.
