No fewer than 17 patients died of coronavirus-related complications in the last 48 hours,The Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, made this known in a series of tweets.

On Tuesday, he announced that “Nine COVID-19 related deaths were recorded, bringing total COVID-19 related deaths in Lagos to 59.

Giving an update 24 hours after, the commissioner said, “Eight additional COVID-19 related deaths were recorded. Total COVID-19 related deaths now stand at 67.” According to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, Lagos has recorded 5,277 confirmed cases of COVID-19. Of these, at least 4,352 are still undergoing treatment, and 858 considered recovered.
