The Lagos State Government has urged youths in the state to work together with the Police as part of efforts to ensure a peaceful state.
“It is also designed as a tangible tool to bring attention to issues causing tension between law enforcement officers and the youth, build a model towards restorative justice rather than punitive discipline and demonstrate our commitment to a lawful, peaceful and safe Lagos.”
On her part, the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Mrs Toyin Oke-Osanyintolu, said, “The dialogue is an intellectual gathering of young leaders in Lagos State and is a platform where burning issues are discussed extensively to bridge the communication gap between the Lagos State Police Command and the youth residing in the state.”
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Mr Abiodun Alabi, who was represented by the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Benjamin Hundeyin, noted that the misunderstanding between the Police and youths is a result of impatience which could be resolved through dialogue. All rights reserved.
