Lagos govt seals 13 banks, 30 buildings on Airport road, gives reason

The Lagos State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development has sealed 43 buildings on Airport Road.

The Commissioner of the ministry , Dr Idris Salako, while supervising the exercise, said the buildings were sealed for violating the physical planning laws, NAN reports. Salako mentioned that most of the buildings affected, including 13 banks and 13 hotels, were either built without planning permits or conformity to approval orders.

According to him, the area is an international gateway to Lagos State and therefore must not be defaced with illegal developments. “It is by enforcing strict compliance to planning laws and regulations that we can halt the pervasive incidence of illegal and unapproved buildings, protect the Operative Development Plans of Lagos State,” he added.
