The Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) has sealed off a seven-floor structure at 107B, Ajose Ogun street, Victoria Island, a highbrow area in the state.

June 18, 2023 1:16 PMThe Lagos State Building Control Agency has sealed off a seven-floor structure at 107B, Ajose Adeogun street, Victoria Island.the structure, which houses Heirs Insurance and United Bank for Africa , is beginning to exhibit signs of structural failure.

He said preliminary investigations revealed that some tiles on the fourth floor have popped off along the expansion joints of the building. Oke said that an on-the-spot assessment of the building further revealed that in an attempt to cover up the suspected structural defects, the developer started renovation/remodelling works without carrying out proper tests to ascertain cause of the defects.He said the building would remain sealed until an investigation is completed, adding that developers should always adhere strictly to building codes of the state.

LASBCA general manager had said some of the buildings had been issued quit notices since 2016, adding that occupants usually harass officials of the agency whenever they want to carry out their duties.
