The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Idowu Owohunwa, on Thursday, visited the Okada rider, who was assaulted by some police officers in a viral video.
The Policemen were said to be enforcing the existing ban on use of motorcycles in certain parts of the State
Three policemen were seen in the viral video brutalising the Okada man. One of the policemen was seen hitting his baton on the man’s head as another one was pushing him away. The man, who tried to wrestle his motorcycle with the policemen, sustained injury as he held on to his forehead where blood was seen gushing out from.
The third policeman rode away on the victim’s bike while the two others immediately left the scene in a tricycle. According to the State’s Police Public Relations Officer , SP Benjamin Hundeyin, in a series of tweets via his Twitter handle, he said that CP Owohunwa condemned the policemen’s actions and told the public that disciplinary action had already been taken against the men.
