Lagos court remands unemployed men for stealing
An Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court, on Monday, remanded four unemployed men in prison for stealing valuables worth N56,000.
The defendants, Jamiu Ramon, 25; Funsho Kayode, 19; Aliu Mayowa, 21 and Wasiu Opeifa, 21, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.Earlier, the Prosecutor, Sgt. Michael Unah told the court that the defendants accosted one Miss Mary Olalowo with a knife and stole her valuables worth N56,000. He submitted that the defendants conducted themselves in a manner likely to cause a breach of the peace by threatening to kill the complainant with a knife.“They stole an Itel phone worth N26,000, her handbag valued at N5,000 and a sum of N25,000, all totalling N56,000.
