Lagos State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Moyosore Onigbanjo has declared that the state House of Assembly has constitutional powers to investigate dredging activities within its waterways. Nigeria LagosState
He stated this yesterday while reacting to a petition by the National Inland Waterways Authority in which it requested information on the activities of a seven-man committee set up by the Lagos State House of Assembly to investigate and make recommendations on dredging activities in its waterways.
He stressed that a subsisting judgment of the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division delivered on July 18, 2017 in Appeal No. CA/L/886/2014 had resolved the matter in the lead judgment by Justice Mukhar J.C.A. The Lagos State of House of Assembly can make laws in respect of the intra-inland waterways in Lagos State….”
Meanwhile, Commissioner for Establishments, Training and Pensions, Mrs. Ajibola Ponnle, has disclosed that government’s investment in human capacity development of its workforce was already attracting global attention, as the state’s public service would be producing the first forensic dentist in West Africa soon.
