HULU SELANGOR: Labuan MP Datuk Suhaili Abdul Rahman will be the first lawmaker to receive an expulsion letter from Bersatu for declaring support for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim , says Perikatan Nasional secretary-general Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin .

“This means that according to present laws, he loses his Parliamentarian status and God-willing, there will be a by-election in Labuan,” said Hamzah during a ceramah at Batang Kali on Thursday night. “This is the story, he came to see me and told me 'brother don’t worry, I’m with you and I will not quit. I’m with Bersatu'. This was in the morning. In the afternoon, when he entered Parliament, he announced that he supports Anwar,” said Hamzah.

To date, six MPs and a sole assemblyman from Bersatu - Datuk Abdul Rashid Ashari - pledged support to the unity government.
