A group, Concerned Nigerian Patriots, CNP, has said that ₦250,000 as minimum wage demand by organised labour would plunge the country into economic recession. Its Chairman, Alfa Mohammed, stated this while addressing a press conference on Tuesday in Abuja.

He said the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC, and Trade Union Congress, TUC, are conniving with the Labour Party to create chaos for the Bola Tinubu-led administration, hence, their insistence on a N250,000 minimum wage .

reports that the federal government and the organised private sector had proposed a N62,000 minimum wage and the report had been submitted to President Boka Tinubu. The group stressed that they continued to leverage the temporary economic hardships stemming from necessary economic reforms to call for strikes, including a recent shutdown of critical national infrastructure affecting the livelihoods of millions.
