Mamman Daura, a nephew of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari , on Saturday, said the deaths of the President’s chief of staff, Abba Kyari, and that of Second Republic minister, Ismaila Isa
Funtua, were very disturbing to him.
Kyari died on April 17 of complications arising from COVID-19, while Funtua died of cardiac arrest on July 20. Daura, Kyari and Funtua, all close associates of Buhari, have been described as powerful members in the President’s cabinet. Speaking in an interview on the Hausa service of themonitored in Kaduna on Saturday, Daura said he and the deceased were not related by blood to the President but were close associates with him for over 40 years.
Daura said Kyari and Funtua’s services to the Buhari regime were immeasurable, saying he worked with Kyari when he was the Editor and Managing Director of the“Truly, it was very disturbing. These two great personalities, aside from being my friends, were my close associates. They worked hard for this government beyond my imagination.
