Kwara community demands justice as young father dies in Police detention under 24hrs

The death of the 35-year-old Tunji Abdulquadri Jimoh while in police detention in Ilorin, Kwara State capital has assumed a new dimension.

The Erubu-Asunnara community where the deceased hails from has narrated the graphic account of events leading to his arrest and detention and demanded justice for his alleged unlawful detention and murder at the state police command headquarters over a N220,000 debt. A statement by the Chairman and General Secretary of the community, Ibrahim Mujeeb and Hassan Taiye Erubu in Ilorin on Sunday expressed sadness and heartbreak over the tragic incident.

'All efforts to meet Mr Gabriel, whom Tunji was owing, was also to no avail. At about 7pm on the same day, a call was received from the Police that, the family should come and bail him out after it was denied on the excuses that the complainant had travelled to Ibadan, Oyo State but they should come along with money which the family are making efforts to get. 'At 9pm, another call was put to the family, requesting the family to come to the hospital because of Tunji.
