The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kogi State Chapter has reacted to the one-week ultimatum given by Okene local government for the party to vacate its Okene secretariat. SaharaReporters earlier reported that in another move to subdue opposition political parties in the State, Governor Yahaya Bello who is of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) shut down the central office of the PDP in the state, using the local government chairman of the area, Abdulrazak Yusuf.
Kogi PDP Replies Governor Yahaya Bello's Stooge, Rejects One-Week Ultimatum To Vacate Okene SecretariatSaharaReporters earlier reported that in another move to subdue opposition political parties in the State, Governor Yahaya Bello who is of the ruling All Progressives Congress shut down the central office of the PDP in the state, using the local government chairman of the area, Abdulrazak Yusuf.
It was gathered that the shutting down of the PDP office was part of the APC government’s move to stop the PDP candidate, Natasha Akpoti’s campaign for Senate. The PDP letter reads, “We are in receipt of your letter dated the 26th day of October, 2022 in respect of the above subject matter and we want to timeously register our protest and disagreement to the said letter vis a vis the one week ultimatum to vacate our PDP Secretariat in Okene, Kogi State.
“Furthermore sir, the said letter with all intent and purpose, is tantamount to usurping and depriving us and our members of the constitutional rights to own landed property anywhere in Nigeria as well as depriving us the right to political participation and peaceful assembly well captured and guaranteed under sections 43 and 40 respectively of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
