Stakeholders and political parties have signed a peace accord ahead of the November 11th governorship election in Kogi State.

The peace accord was signed on Wednesday in Lokoja in a ceremony organized by the Kukah Center and funded by the European Union.

Kukah appreciated the people of Kogi State for their resilience and belief in democracy, adding that violence should always be discouraged during elections. “The reason is that people have lost trust and are in despair. There is despondency across the land. People don’t trust institutions. You have come out and supported us for this great cause.

Also speaking, the Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, who was represented by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Barrister Didat Ozigi lauded the Kukah Centre for their service to humanity.
