The convoy of Kogi State 's Deputy Governor successfully thwarted an attempted abduction of motorists traveling along the Ejule and Ochadamu roads in the eastern part of the state. The incident unfolded on Thursday afternoon at Ofejiji in Ochadamu, Ofu Local Government Area, shortly after the Deputy Governor 's convoy had passed through. Sources revealed that the suspected kidnappers targeted an 18-seater BD Express Bus, which was transporting passengers from Otukpo, Benue State, to Lagos.
Emmanuel Unubi, the Chief Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, confirmed the incident to DAILY POST on Thursday evening. He explained that security personnel in the backup van of the Deputy Governor's convoy swiftly intervened upon receiving an alert, preventing any abductions.Unubi further stated that the Deputy Governor immediately directed the Nigerian Army, Police, and local vigilante groups to apprehend the kidnappers and ensure their prosecution. Deputy Governor Joel Salifu expressed deep concern over the persistent attempts at kidnapping in the area. He ordered security forces to establish a permanent checkpoint at the location and emphasized that the administration of Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo is dedicated to eliminating criminal activities and restoring peace to the state so citizens can live without fear. The Deputy Governor also urged the youth of Ejule, Ochadamu, and surrounding communities to refrain from unlawful activities and report any suspicious behavior or unfamiliar individuals, underscoring that security is a shared responsibility. He issued a stern warning to those involved in such criminal acts, urging them to cease immediately or face the full weight of the law
