Kogi State House of Assembly has appealed to Governor Yahaya Bello to rehabilitate the dilapidated Abejukolo General Hospital to enable it cope with the
increasing medical demands of patients in and outside Omala local government area.Moving the motion on the floor of the house, the member representing Omala State Constituency, Hon. Umar Yahaya said before now, Abejukolo General Hospital served as the only provider of all medical needs of the entire people of Omala until its services became moribund due to the failure on the part of the relevant authority in putting the hospital to good working condition.
The lawmaker said many indigenous people of the local government have lost their lives due to improper medical care in their locality. He continued, “We are concerned that the Abejukolo General Hospital is not only left with only a medical doctor but that the physician is forced to work under debilitating conditions of inadequate medical facilities and shortage of medical assistants to mention the least.”
