The Nation Newspaper Kidnappers lay siege to commuters on Ebonyi-Enugu highway
The security situation at the Idodo boundary axis of the Abakaliki-Enugu expressway has deteriorated due to the criminal activities of kidnappers who laid siege on the road.
The boundary which has become a kidnappers den has heightened tensions and paralyzed movements to and fro Ebonyi state. He said: “I postponed my all-important meeting in Enugu today because of the kidnapping incidents. Apart from myself, many others cancelled the trip and it’s very unfortunate. I have done my best to draw government attention to the problem but the Government of Enugu and Ebonyi seems not to be concerned about the incident.”
Another source noted that movement along the ever-busy road has been unsafe, adding, “Someone in my street just came back from Enugu this afternoon and said that though they crossed safely, everyone inside their vehicle started praying over heightened tension as they approached Idodo.” “A cousin to a friend’s neighbour was kidnapped on Tuesday and they secured his release on Thursday. She was kidnapped before 3 pm.
