The Katsina State Hisbah Board has banned all nightclub activities in the state, citing Islamic principles and the need to uphold moral values. The ban comes in an effort to curb immoral practices, protect societal values, and address security concerns. Violators will face strict penalties, with security agencies tasked with ensuring compliance.
The Katsina State Hisbah Board has imposed a ban on all nightclub activities throughout the state. The ban, announced by Hisbah Commander-General Aminu Usman (Abu Ammar) in a statement issued in Katsina on Wednesday, cites Islamic principles and the imperative to preserve moral values . Usman directed nightclub owners to cease operations, aiming to curb immoral practices, safeguard societal values, and address security concerns within the state.
The Hisbah Board emphasized that violators would face stringent penalties. Security agencies have been tasked with ensuring full compliance with the order, and the board has notified relevant authorities, including the state Commissioner for Internal Security, to enforce the directive effectively. This measure aligns with the Hisbah's broader mission to guide residents toward lives that adhere to religious and moral standards. The state agency had previously banned prostitution and gambling across the state in July 2024. The Hisbah had also declared that it was monitoring individuals with unconventional hairstyles and taking appropriate action against them.
