Katsina lawmakers walk out in protest over State House protocol

had convened a stakeholders’ meeting, consisting of the lawmakers, chairmen of the 34 local councils and State Executive Council members on two issues.

A relatively new protocol at the Government House required everyone to submit his or her handset to security aides at the governor’s office before relating with him. Gwajo-gwajo and others were said to have prevailed on them individually, leading to some of the angry legislators returning for the meeting.

He also announced at the meeting that effective today, July 18, he would be proceeding on his yearly leave, and would be handing over to the deputy governor, Farouk Lawal. He, therefore, called on stakeholders to accord the acting governor the needed support to effectively discharge his responsibilities.
