Concerned over the wave of fresh criminal activities using Ramadan Cultural Tashe, by some youths in Kano State, the Police Command in the state has taken concrete security measures to deal with any person or group of people that plan to take advantage of the culture to perpetuate crime.
The State Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Usaini Gumel, said the crime pattern was carefully reviewed in the state and it was discovered that some youth exploited the Traditional “Tashe” culture to create insecurity, concealing arms to attack innocent people. Gumenl said, 'Three months ago we discovered some youths coming up with the criminality of arranging fights, they will then pounce on people, waylay them and dispossess them of their valuables.
Gumel noted that all Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers , and Tactical and Operational Commanders were directed to identify and reach out to prominent people including the youths that organize 'Tashe' and to beam the necessary searchlight against any form of potential violence in the State. 'Furthermore, the Police Command has increased surveillance and patrols in the identified areas where youth tend to exploit Tashe culture to promote nefarious activities'.
