The Kano State House of Assembly has declared a state of emergency on rural roads, urging the state government to prioritize their construction. This decision came after a motion highlighting the neglect of rural roads compared to urban roads, emphasizing the economic and social benefits of improved rural infrastructure.
The Kano State House of Assembly has declared a state of emergency on rural roads across the state. The decision followed deliberations during a plenary session presided over by the Speaker, Alhaji Jibril Isma’il Falgore, after a motion was moved by Alhaji Abdul Abdulhamid, the member representing Minjibir constituency. Abdulhamid argued that since the inception of the 10th Assembly, approximately 90 motions had been passed concerning urban roads, with little attention given to rural areas.
'I urge the House to consider this motion due to its importance and call on the executive to implement this declaration for the development of the state,' Abdulhamid said. Supporting the motion, Alhaji Salisu Ibrahim Muhammad, the member representing Doguwa constituency, highlighted the importance of rural road development in improving the transportation of goods and services, especially for farmers.
