The Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission has uncovered 16,800 bags of 50kg rice worth over N1 billion intended for the Ramadan festival but diverted and rebagged for resale.
Kano State Public Complaints and Anti- Corruption Commission, PCACC , has uncovered a massive cache of 50kg rice worth over N1 billion at a warehouse in the state capital. The commission discovered 16,800 bags of rice that were meant for the last Ramadan festival but were instead diverted and rebagged under different labels to be resold. The chairman of PCACC , Muhyi Magaji, revealed that one person has been arrested, and the investigation is ongoing to apprehend other accomplices.
The rice was allegedly rebagged from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's 'Not for sale' branded bags into labels like 'Big Mama Rice' and 'Elephant Classic Parboiled.' The commission will forward the necessary information to the state governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for further action
