The Kano State government projects to generate over N100 billion in Internal Revenue (IGR) in 2025, barring internal leakages. The State Chairman of the Revenue Board, Abubakar Zaid, revealed this at the Kano Internal Revenue Service Annual Performance Review for 2024 and Strategic Planning for 2025. Zaid stated that the service has implemented a central revenue account to enhance transparency and accountability while plugging leakages. He identified multiple accounts previously used by the office as avenues for siphoning funds. Despite a government target of N700 billion for the revenue board in 2024, Zaid expressed confidence in exceeding N100 billion if leakages are effectively addressed. Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has approved a review of revenue generation laws to strengthen the state's revenue base and prevent future leakages.
