The Kano State Police Command has arrested at least 24 suspected thugs in a series of clearance operations conducted across the state. The operations, carried out between December 13th and 16th, followed previous clashes between thugs in areas like Kofar Mata, Yakasai, and Zango that resulted in the deaths of two residents. Police recovered several dangerous weapons and emphasized community-centered policing strategies involving security stakeholders and public awareness campaigns.
Ahead of the Christmas and New Year celebrations, the Kano State Police Command has arrested at least 24 suspected thugs from across the state. According to the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the development followed clearance operations conducted in areas including Kofar Mata, Yakasai, Zango, Zage, among others.
recalls that thugs had clashed in these areas earlier in December, leading to the killing of two residents. The command said the clearance operations, carried out between 13th and 16th December 2024, also led to the recovery of several dangerous weapons.
