Police in Kano State say they have arrested 197 suspected kidnappers, armed robbers and others for various criminal offences in the state.

Spokesman for the force in the state, DSP Abdullahi Haruna, said in a statement on Friday they arrested the suspects within the last two and a half months in different parts of the state.

Haruna said 12 suspects were arrested for armed robbery, five for kidnapping, 10 for fraudulent activities and 115 for thuggery.He said the items recovered from the suspects included two motor vehicles, two tricycles, seven motorcycles and two bicycles. He said, “The four drugs dealers were arrested with 162 parcels of dried leaves suspected to be Indian Hemp valued at N810,000 and 11 cartons of Codeine Expectorant valued at N935,000.

“Other items recovered include 45 mobile phones, six arms including one AK- 47 rifle with 30 rounds of live ammunition, two pump action guns with 321 live cartridges, one double-barreled gun with 66 pellet live ammunition and two other guns.Copyright PUNCH.
