The Kano State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency said it arrested no fewer than 1,064 from June 2022 to June 2023.
This is contained in a statement by Sadik Maigatari, Ag. Public Relations Officer of the Command, a copy of which was made to newsmen on Saturday.He also said the command within the period under review recovered a total of 7530.813kg, which include 5228.673kg of cannabis, 2096.837kg of psychotropic substances, cocaine, 47.013kg and heroin, 65.24kg.
He further stated that from the number, 68 were discharged, while 28 were still under rehabilitation.“In our prosecution unit, we charged to court a total number of 93 cases from June 26th, 2022, to June 26th, 2023, and secured 111 convictions.”He stressed that the command adoption of the War Against Drug Abuse campaign program, as a prevention approach, proved to be highly effective.
