Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has claimed that he inherited a dilapidated health sector from his predecessor, Umar Abdullahi Ganduje.

Speaking during a working visit by the Deputy Minister of Health from the Ghana to Kano, Governor Yusuf explained that he discovered the health sector in a state of disrepair, with many hospitals in a state of decay upon assuming office. Governor Yusuf added that to address specific issues, particularly in maternity delivery, the government initiated free maternity services in all hospitals and as well ordered the complete renovation of all 44 primary healthcare centers in the state.
