A section of the palace of the 16th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi, at Gidan Rumfa, was gutted by fire on Friday night around 11 pm, raising concerns about the security and safety of the historic site.
Despite the severity of the incident, the Kano State Fire Service reported that they were not informed, as no calls were received at their centres. Bayero assured that the palace administration is taking measures to ensure the safety and security of the occupants and is investigating the cause of the fire to prevent future incidents.
