Suspected bandits killed Reverend Father Sylvester Okechukwu, a Catholic priest serving at St Mary’s Catholic Church in Tachiri, Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
According to sources within the church and local residents, Father Okechukwu was abducted from his residence late Tuesday night by armed assailants believed to be bandits operating in the region. The priest’s lifeless body was discovered in the early hours of Wednesday, sending waves of grief and outrage through the local community and beyond.
The discovery of Father Okechukwu’s remains has intensified concerns over the escalating insecurity in Southern Kaduna, where banditry, kidnappings, and targeted killings have plagued rural communities for years.
