The Kaduna State University (KASU) branch of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has announced that the state government has approved land for its Academia Mass Housing Estate Project . This project, a collaborative initiative between KASU-ASUU , the Kaduna state government, the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria, and the Federal Ministry of Housing, aims to provide affordable housing for academic staff and civil servants .

In a letter of commendation addressed to Governor Uba Sani, dated January 23, ASUU-KASU expressed its gratitude for the governor's commitment to the development of the state. The letter, signed by Gimba Kyari, president of the KASU-ASUU Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited, highlighted the significance of the project in improving staff welfare and expanding homeownership opportunities for civil servants. The project is designed to be sustainable and aims to set a benchmark for mass housing schemes by offering a conducive living environment at an affordable cost. According to Ibraheem Musa, the chief press secretary to the governor, each housing unit in the project is expected to cost approximately N42 million, including infrastructure. To reflect the value of the allocated land, KASU-ASUU has introduced a 15 percent discount on the total cost, known as the 'Senator Uba Sani Discount'.This initiative marks a significant step forward in addressing the housing challenges faced by academic staff and civil servants in Kaduna state. The collaboration between various stakeholders demonstrates a commitment to providing affordable and sustainable housing solutions, ultimately improving the quality of life for thousands of individuals and families
