The Kaduna State Police Command has made significant strides in combating crime, arresting over 580 suspects for various offenses, rescuing 30 kidnapped victims, and recovering an array of stolen property and illegal weapons.
The Kaduna State Police Command announced the arrest of over 580 suspects for a range of crimes, including kidnapping, phone snatching, armed robbery, car theft, motorcycle snatching, rape, and receiving stolen goods. The command also reported the successful rescue of 30 kidnapped victims and the recovery of a significant amount of stolen property and illegal weapons.
Commissioner of Police Muhammad Rabiu, during a press briefing in Kaduna on Tuesday, highlighted these achievements, which were recorded between December 31, 2024, and January 2025. He emphasized the command's unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property within the state.To achieve this goal, the police have established strong collaboration with other security agencies and the local community. Among the notable successes, Rabiu cited the arrest of two notorious kidnappers' informants, Inusa Ibrahim and Hamisu Musa. These individuals were caught making phone calls to suspected bandits, providing them with names of individuals targeted for kidnapping in their village. The command also apprehended two motorcycle snatchers, Ibrahim Abubakar and Surakatu Usman, who resorted to using a sledgehammer to attack their victims before stealing their motorcycles. In this case, 16 motorcycles and three tricycles were recovered from the suspects, along with their receiver, Yahya Muhammad.Further demonstrating their effectiveness, the police successfully rescued 23 kidnapped victims who had been abducted by a gang of armed bandits in the Kajuru Local Government Area. Rabiu issued a stern warning to criminal elements, stating that Kaduna State is no longer a safe haven for them. He urged citizens to remain law-abiding and actively support the police by providing timely and credible information. The Commissioner stressed that through intelligence-driven operations, synergy with sister security agencies, and strong community collaboration, the command has achieved significant progress in combating crime. Stolen property and illegal weapons recovered included motorcycles, motor vehicles, a submachine gun, AK-47 rifles, pistols, rounds of live ammunition, rustled cows, sledgehammers, and bags of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis. Rabiu reaffirmed the command's dedication to maintaining law and order in the state, assuring residents that the police will continue to intensify their efforts to suppress criminal activity
