The Plateau State government has approved a new minimum wage of N70,000 for its workers.A statement from the Plateau State Head of Civil Service, Stephen Gadong, confirmed that the approval was granted on Wednesday, November 13, 2024. The announcement was made public on Thursday in Jos, the state capital.According to the statement, the approval follows an agreement reached by the Committee on Consequential Adjustment on Salaries.
The statement said Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang, authorized the immediate implementation of the N70,000 minimum wage.The government has also called on workers to show appreciation by working harder and increasing their productivity.Gadong urged civil servants to see this wage increase as a sign of the government’s commitment to improving their lives.This approval comes after months of anticipation.
