The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has resolved to write the Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba, demanding the immediate
investigation and possible prosecution of its suspended Resident Electoral Commissioner in Adamawa State, Hudu Yunusa-Ari.
The Commission has also requested the Secretary to the Government of the Federation to draw the attention of the appointing authority to the unwholesome behaviour of Yunusa-Ari for further action. INEC disclosed these as part of the outcome of the meeting of its Management Team on Tuesday over the REC’s behaviour on the inconclusive Adamawa State governorship election.
It, however, added that the collation process of the election shall resume at a time to be determined by the Returning Officer. LEADERSHIP reports that INEC asked Ari to steer clear of the Commission’s office in the State until further notice after he illegally announced the candidate of the All Progressives Congress for the governorship electio, Aisha Dahiru Ahmed, as winner of the exercise.
