Former Minister of Transportation and ex-Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi, has hinted at contesting for the presidency in 2027 under the newly adopted coalition platform, the African Democratic Congress , declaring that he has the “capacity to rule Nigeria” and would have done better than President Bola Tinubu.Speaking during a Thursday night interview on Channels Television, Amaechi said he believes he possesses the competence and leadership experience required to govern Nigeria.

When asked whether he would be willing to serve a single term in office in line with the unwritten North-South power rotation agreement, the former minister stated that he is open to serving just one term and committed to honouring such an arrangement.Earlier on Wednesday, Amaechi announced his resignation from the All Progressives Congress , stating that his formal exit came after a prolonged period of disengagement from party activities.
