Anxious customers who converged at the premises of Heritage Bank in Calabar, located opposite the Central Bank of Nigeria office, early Wednesday morning caused a scene at the venue.POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the customers who were visibly angry demanded unhindered access to their deposits.The crowd, which gathered as early as 7 am, was denied entrance to the bank, leading to commotion as customers struggled to access the bank's facility.
As the standoff continued, an official from Heritage Bank addressed the agitated crowd at around 10 am, urging them to disperse and assuring them that their funds would be transferred to their other bank accounts linked to their Bank Verification Numbers . The official appealed for calm, assuring that the bank would commence the exercise on Thursday, June 6, 2024.
