Eight National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members have been abducted in Zamfara State.
The corps members were on transit from Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, to Sokoto State in an Akwa Ibom Transport Company bus for their one-year national service.
A senior official of the transport company confirmed the incident to an online newspaper, News Point Nigeria, on Tuesday. According to the source, the bus was conveying 11 corps members and the driver, but three of the corps members escaped while eight corps members were abducted alongside the driver.
“They left here on Friday, and slept over in Abuja. It was when they were proceeding to Sokoto that they were kidnapped. The corps members were offloaded and taken into the bush. The police have recovered the bus,” the official reportedly said.
