Premier DanielAndrewsMP has hit out at DjokerNole declaring Victoria’s safety is “bigger than any one person” while urging the embattled star to “just get vaccinated”.

The federal government is continuing to work through ongoing issues with Djokovic’s visa with a decision expected from Immigration Minister Alex Hawke on Thursday.

Mr Andrews echoed the words of one-time Australian Open champion Rafael Nadal who said Djokovic knew the entry requirements and “if he wanted, he would be playing here in Australia without a problem”.Djokovic’s vaccine saga comes as Victoria continues to battle the spread of the Omicron variant with the state recording 25 deaths overnight and 37,169 cases.

“We have quite a way to go and rather than focusing on one person and that tournament is a lot bigger than any one person, it's called a grand slam for a reason,” he said.
