It could turn out to be one of the coldest Julys on record as heavy rain is on the horizon later in the week
July 2020 could rank among one of the coldest on record, with more heavy rain set to hit large parts of the UK later this week.says the average daily maximum temperature this month has been 17.5 degrees Celsius. This compares with the coldest July ever recorded when, in 1888, temperatures averaged at a daily high of just 16C.
The weather has been tracked for 136 years and this year could yet make the top 20 coldest Julys, depending on how things play out over the next 10 days.It comes as the country is set to be split today and tomorrow – with the south enjoying sunshine and high temperatures, but the north and Scotland seeing much more cloud and outbreaks of rain.The UK baked at the start of the coronavirus lockdown in April and May with wall-to-wall sunshine.
Last night temperatures fell below 10C in several parts of the country and it will continue to be unsettled towards the end of the week with cloud and outbreaks of heavy rain for most.
