There is wide jubilation in the South-East state of Enugu State following the judgement of the Court of Appeal that released the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu. SaharaReporters earlier reported that Appeal Court, Abuja Division, discharged and acquitted the IPOB leader of the charges of terrorism and treasonable felony. Kanu had in his appeal dated April 29 and marked CA/ABJ/CR/625/2022 applied to be discharged and acquitted. Kanu was first arraigned on December 23, 2015, and was later granted bail on April 25, 2017.

SaharaReporters earlier reported that Appeal Court, Abuja Division, discharged and acquitted the IPOB leader of the charges of terrorism and treasonable felony. In some other gathering, people expressed optimism that the activities of unknown gunmen would now be a thing of the past."I see peace at last coming back to South East region. At least the issue of unknown gunmen and sit-at-home will end now," one of the jubilants said.
Ohanaeze spokesman Dr Alex Ogbonnia who spoke to SaharaReporters in a telephone interview said,"I receive the news with happiness, joy and jubilation. It's a jubilation galore across the entire South East and Nigeria in general because we are relieved by the Appeal Court judgement. It's a landmark and I am very much happy.
