The Joint Action Front (JAF) has told the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government to meet the demands which made the Nigerian university lecturers, the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to embark on eight months’ strike. JAF stated this in a release jointly signed by Achike Chude, the union Deputy Chairperson and Abiodun Aremu, the union Secretary, while urging the government to address its pending issues with ASUU and other relevant institutions to avert another industrial action in the future.

We note that while the Buhari Government is yet to satisfactorily address the demands of ASUU, however, the strike has compelled the regime to vote money in the proposed 2023 budget towards the revitalsation of public universities. However, we note that what was voted in the budget is just a fraction of what the demands of ASUU are in the interest of public university education.
