Some Nigerian singers including Joel Amadi, Michael Stephens, aka Ruggedman, Lanre Fasasi and Eedris Abdulkareem have condemned the killings in Southern Kaduna.
Championed by Amadi, whose father was shot dead by suspected herdsmen in Zikpak Village, Kafanchan, located in the southern part of Kaduna State, the artistes condemned the killings and urged the governor of the state, Nasir El-Rufai, to respond swiftly.
Amadi said, “There is still no word to describe the hurt I feel having my dad killed that way prematurely. I was his only son. I have two sisters and automatically, I have been given a father’s responsibility prematurely. I am not just speaking out because my father was killed. I also lost an uncle, aunty and other relatives.
In a similar vein, Abdulkareem stated, “There is a lot of violence going on in Nigeria. There is no need to pretend. We need to use our platforms to add value to others. If it were to be about money, I would be praise-singing politicians that are my friends. President Muhammadu Buhari in six years has not done anything. He has failed Nigeria.”
Sound Sultan also added, “I have always been speaking up and Joel doesn’t have to be a musician before I can ‘feel’ his pain. It’s humane for the government to respond to these killings. Protocols don’t have to come to play when lives are being lost.”All rights reserved.
