The Inter-Party Advisory Council, IPAC, has called on the Federal Government to take urgent steps to make the roads safe and work out alternative means of conveying highly inflammable petroleum products.
The council said this while reacting to a fuel tanker explosion at Majiya town, Taura Local Government Area, Jigawa State, in which over 150 people died and several others were injured.
in a statement signed by its National Chairman, Yusuf Mamman Dantalle, said it was deeply pained and shares the grief of the families that lost their loved ones in the fatal explosion, adding that 'words are not enough to assuage their sorrows.' The council noted that in recent times, the nation has witnessed several fuel tanker accidents and explosions that claimed hundreds of lives, mostly those scooping fuel. 'The life of every Nigerian matters and must be preserved.
