The Jigawa State government has established a committee to draft the implementation formula for the newly approved N70,000 minimum wage. This development was announced by the Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sport, and Culture, Hon. Sagir Musa, during a briefing with newsmen following the state executive council meeting on Friday.

The committee will be chaired by the Head of Service, Muhammad Dagacire, with Garin Gabas, the private personal secretary to the state governor, serving as the committee's secretary. In addition to the minimum wage announcement, Hon. Sagir Musa revealed that the council had approved the release of N882.8 million for the settlement of registration fees for 39,709 candidates for the 2024 NECO, NABTEB, and NBAIS examinations. Furthermore, N921.

9 million has been approved for the maintenance and rehabilitation of the Auyo-Kafin Hausa Road, with an additional N16.1 million allocated for consultancy services. Other notable approvals include N400 million, which serves as the remaining balance of a N1 billion fund dedicated to supporting Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises in the state.
