JAMB says it has apprehended over 40 individuals for examination malpractice in the ongoing 2025 UTME.
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board says it has apprehended over 40 individuals for examination malpractice in the ongoing 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination .The board, in its latest weekly bulletin published on Monday, said impersonation has emerged as the most common offence. It warned that any attempt to undermine the integrity of the UTME would be met with swift legal consequences.
JAMB said it has put in place stringent security measures to detect and prevent cheating, and that those arrested are already facing prosecution. The board said the number of infractions has declined compared to previous years due to its shift from paper-based exams to computer-based testing, which has made cheating significantly more difficult.“Unchecked examination infractions erode the credibility of our education system,” the board stated.JAMB also warned that candidates caught attempting impersonation or other forms of misconduct will be immediately arrested and prosecuted.
The board said it remains committed to upholding the integrity of the UTME as a gateway to tertiary education in Nigeria.
