Offensive tackles will get drafted early and often all throughout the 2023 NFL Draft. Luckily for franchises that won’t have the luxury of drafting the first or second tackle off the board, the middle rounds are absolutely loaded with potential high-end talents.
JM: And then you move over to the left side in 2022. You started all 11 games at left tackle this past season and there’s no denying the results. The tape got better. What clicked for you this past season? Playing tight end obviously helped me from an athleticism perspective as well. I already know the playbook. Run blocking was a huge help as well. It was very similar at tight end. Obviously, the stance is different and you’re blocking bigger defenders, but run blocking as a tight end is probably what helped me the most.
Jake Witt: It was all nutrition based. I really zeroed in on my training. From there, it was all nutrition. I made sure I was eating 6,000 calories per day. I was hitting 300 grams of protein, 750 grams of carbs, and 200 grams of fat. That was the biggest thing for me. It was all nutrition based. Pass protection is my strong suit as of now. Run blocking is a focus for me. I’m grinding and working hard every single day. We’re doing position-skill work. I’m probably working 70% run blocking, 30% pass pro. We know I need to improve my run blocking. Pass protection is definitely my specialty right now.
